Job Description

  • Perform HV/MV/LV power distribution design for power plants, cogen plants, cement plants, paper mills, chemical plants and renewable power plants
  • Design single line diagrams, three line diagrams and AC and DC control schematics
  • Perform power system studies including short circuit, load flow, relay coordination and arc flash studies using ETAP, SKM, Easy Power and PS CADD software.
  • Perform Grounding Studies using CDEGS
  • Perform Lightning Protection Calculations
  • Perform DC Battery system calculations
  • Perform ampacity calculations
  • Perform motor starting and generator transient analysis
  • Generate relay logic diagrams and program SEL, Multilin, Siprotec and other electronic relays
  • Be able to perform NERC/FERC studies including PRC-001, PRC-002, PRC-005, PRC-016, PRC-019, PRC-0024, PRC-0027  etc.
  • Perform real and reactive power flow and comply with the utility point of interconnect requirements
  • Be able to discuss utility interface requirements with Utility and NERC
  • Perform dynamic stability analysis
  • Be able to perform mapping relays with DCS/SCADA
  • Prepare Electrical Equipment Specifications, Data Sheets, Purchase Requisitions and Bid evaluations for Substation, Switchgear, Transformers, Motor Control Centers and Variable Frequency Drives
  • Mentor junior power system engineers

Job Requirements:

  • Registered Professional Engineer is preferred
  • Prefer 15 to 25 years’ experience with design of Power Systems for Heavy Industrial Installations
  • Previous experience (>10years) in Electrical design in the field of Consulting Engineering in North America
  • Knowledge of transmission line experience will be a plus
  • Knowledge of pole line design is a plus
  • Extensive experience mentoring junior engineers
  • Experience with the Electrical System design, System Studies, Relay Coordination, Protection & Control
  • Knowledge and Experience using some of the following applications: Excel; Word; Power System Study programs ETAP, SKM, EASYPOWER, CDEGS, CYMCAP etc.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes, standards and regulations used in North American
  • Be flexible with the ability to manage change
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment
  • Good organizational skills and writing skills
  • Willing to travel to job sites – 20%
